Nicolas Logue, Game Designer
Nicolas Logue is a game designer and theatre educator who works across multiple cultures, genres and mediums of performance.
Nicolas has over 100 credits for Dungeons & Dragons and other tabletop roleplaying games. He is known for gritty adventures that venture into the darker greys of moral turpitude, and for presenting the sinister horrors of fantasy roleplaying settings with unflinching earnestness.
Nicolas has written and designed gaming supplements for Wizards of the Coast, Paizo Publishing, Kobold Press, and several other games publishers. He is most notorious for his adventure-writing in the founding days of the Golarion Campaign Setting including Crown of the Kobold King, Return of the Kobold King, Carnival of Tears, Hangman’s Noose and his contributions to the first Adventure Paths – Hook Mountain Massacre, Edge of Anarchy, and Lords of Rust. He wrote several excellent sourcebooks and adventures for the Eberron Campaign Setting as well, including City of Stormreach, Dragons of Eberron, Eyes of the Lich Queen, and the fan-favorite Chimes at Midnight adventure trilogy.
Nicolas created the Pathfinder Society when he served as Head of Organized Play at Paizo Publishing in 2008, outlining the entire first season of PFS. The scenario he wrote, Mists of Mwangi, remains a fan favorite.
Nicolas Logue created the sensational gaming event Iron Dungeonmaster, presented annually at Gencon from 2003 to 2007, until he sold the concept to Iron Gamemaster Publishing. He is known for celebrating a style of gamemastery that weds his theatrical training and improvisation skills to his love of tabletop.
Nicolas is a two-time Fulbright Scholar and served as the Performing Arts Cultural Liaison to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China from 2000 to 2002. He is a life-long theatre educator who served as the Head of the World Performance Program at East 15 Acting School in London, England from 2008 to 2012. Nicolas is currently serving as a Professor of Creative Media and Theatre at Windward Community College, where he founded the Hawai’i Conservatory of Performing Arts. He was honored by the Hawai’i State Theatre Council with their Pierre Bowman Lifetime Achievement Award in August 2025.
Nicolas is a Senior Instructor in Theatrical Combat with Dueling Arts International and is an internationally recognized fight director who has choreographed battle-scenes for dozens of plays from Shakespeare to modern gunfu-bedlam contemporary plays, including 6 separate productions of She Kills Monsters, by Qui Nguyen.
Nicolas’ life and work is continually shaped by incredibly diverse creative stimulus. He has worked with the Shakespeare’s Birthplace Trust and Royal Shakespeare Company in the United Kingdom, trained extensively in Jingju, and other Xiqu, at the Chinese Academy of Traditional Opera, and with master teachers Lu Gen Zhang and Dr. Elizabeth Wichman-Walczak at the University of Hawai’i. Nicolas has also trained extensively in and performed Randai, Kecak, and trained in Kyogen with the Shigeyama family and Dr. Julie Iezzi.
Nicolas is happiest playing and working on video and tabletop games, gamifying his curriculum, volunteering for the many non-profits on whose board of directors he serves, and hanging out with his best buddy, Galahad (his cat) and his amazing wife, Taurie Kinoshita, whose own bio puts this one to shame.
Nicolas holds an M.F.A. in Acting and Chinese Theatre from University of Hawai’i and a B.A. in Theatre and Chinese Studies from SUNY at Buffalo.
