Spring 2025 Preview & Update

By May 28, 2025No Comments

Hello Tabletop Gamers!

This is Meg, one of the organizers, for Hawaii’s Biggest and Best Convention Dedicated to Tabletop Gaming! We are gearing up for another full weekend of gaming at the end of the month. In just two weeks, Tabletop Oahu: Spring 2025 will be launching at the Hawaii Convention Center on the weekend of May 31 and June 1. Are you ready for a full weekend of tabletop gaming?

If you’ve already purchased your weekend badge, we will be offering early badge pickups at The Armchair Adventurer on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5 PM – 8 PM. Get your badge early so you can start your gaming weekend as soon as you arrive! And also, you can say hello to me and to Van and Courtney, the other two main organizers for the convention! Not to mention the many other volunteers who regularly game there. We would love to see you!

If you haven’t registered yet, you can Register Online Now for $55 until 11:59pm May 23rd, before the price goes up to $65 “at-the-door”.

Meet Industry Guests!

We have a couple of featured guests who are graciously and generously coming to our convention to share their designs and their industry knowledge with us: James Ernest and AnnaMaria Phelps. They will be presenting panels through the weekend in our new Panel Room and offering demonstrations of their latest designs in the Main Gaming Room.

James has been kind enough to donate the latest edition of Lords of Vegas along with the multi-expansion Lords of Vegas: Americana to our Game Library, so you can give it a try! And that’s not all…our Game Library actually has many of his designs. To name just a few: Kill Doctor Lucky, Before I Kill You, Mister Spy…, Tak, and, my personal favorite, Pairs. James will be running three panels at our convention: Introduction to Tabletop Game Design (2 PM) and Tabletop Game Prototyping (5 PM) on Saturday and Invent a Board Game in an Hour (11 AM) on Sunday!

AnnaMaria will be showing off Violet Daisy Games latest offering: Popcats Fighter on Saturday and then on Sunday will be presenting panels on how you can get started in the tabletop gaming industry by Breaking into Board Games (1 PM) and Building a Following (3 PM). AnnaMaria was also kind enough to let us offer printouts from Shelf-Care: A Tabletop Coloring Book for mindful coloring in our brand new Quiet Puzzles Room.

Please say hello to these wonderful people and give them a warm welcome! For more information, check out this link: https://tabletopoahu.com/guests/

If you’re curious about who else has offered support and donations for our convention, check out our list of Sponsors! Scroll all the way down to see everyone’s beautiful logos. They conveniently link directly to each sponsor’s website if you’d like to learn more. And of course, we’ve got local designers, artists, and vendors coming to the convention to show off their latest and greatest designs and products!

Exciting New Features!

You may have already noticed that we now have a Panel Room! And a Vendor Room! And a Quiet Room! We have added these new rooms in addition to our Main Gaming Room and RPG Room for this convention, and, if you love them, we will do our very best to keep them!

The Vendor Room will have vendor and artist booths for all your shopping needs! Just a heads up, we may be renaming this room to something more “Tabletop Oahu” for future conventions. Check out the website for a complete list of who will be there!

Our Panel Room will be offering presentations from our volunteers who have taken the time to research and prepare talking points on different tabletop gaming related topics! As mentioned earlier, our Featured Guests will be sharing their insights. Check out the Panel Schedule on Tabletop.Events!

Just a heads up, we will be hosting another Game Bazaar but this time as a Panel! Come with your games on Saturday, May 31, at noon for a free-for-all hour of buying, selling, and trading. Please don’t yell while you hawk your wares, though. The Panel Room is right next to the brand new Puzzles & Quiet Room.

Our Puzzles & Quiet Room is a quiet space for relaxing activities like puzzles, coloring, reading, tarot cards, and solo games! I know you can always step away from the chaos and bustle to chill by the fountain in the Children’s Courtyard, but I prefer a more engaging breather. Plus puzzles are fun! Please be respectful and keep volume to the absolute minimum while you’re enjoying the room.

Surprise Discount!

On a completely different note, we applied for Chaosium’s 50th Anniversary Convention Support Pack…and we got it! Our Volunteer Game Masters have been great sports as I’ve asked some of them to take on Call of Cthulhu for this coming convention! Chaosium was also kind enough to offer us a discount code for attendees: OAHU-CHAOS. You can use that code for a 10% sitewide discount at chaosium.com.

Other Updates!

We will once again be offering Dungeons & Dragons using adventure settings donated to us by Adventures in Filbar! They are an independent game developer specializing in pick-up-and-play adventures and scenarios inspired by their own homebrew campaigns! Their kits come with fun little props that you’ll get to use if you play in an Adventures in Filbar sponsored game!

We’ve also got lots of new games donated by our sponsors, as mentioned before, plus a bunch of hot new games that we think you’ll love!

Insider Tip #1: Preplan what games you want to play over the weekend so you can study up on the rules! No awkward bumbling with the rulebook while your friends grumble about wasting their badge-money and precious time. Check out our Game Library to see what we’ve got! Or for more filtering capabilities, you can check out our BoardGameGeek Collection.

Insider Tip #2: Submit a Gaming Event to our Event Schedule! If we have the table space for it, we will assign you to a table in the Main Gaming Room. Other attendees will be able to see your gaming event on the schedule and will be able to sign up to join you! Just make sure to ask one of our volunteers at the Game Library to set the game aside before your event’s start time if you don’t own a copy of the game.
